PRIVATE CLASSES

Private lessons are a great idea if you are looking to learn in a way that

If you are a beginner, you can take private lessons to get comfortable with the basics and have all your questions answered before you join a group lesson or begin dancing tango socially.
If you already have some tango experience, private lessons can be an excellent way to work on specific technique and skills that are difficult to master in group lessons.
And if you are a more advanced dancer, private lessons can help you improve your musicality, creativity, connection or tango vocabulary.

You can take private classes with us if you want to:

We encourage students who take private classes to spend time listening to Tango music, attend group classes and practicas and go to milongas to fully integrate the skills and concepts learned in the private class. We also suggest that you bring a camera and take a video of the resume of the class as a reference so you can practice at home.

You can take a class with Misia, Peter, or with both of us. You can come by yourself, or with a partner. You can take one private class, a few, or even regular ones -- in the latter case, we can create a learning plan for you.

To schedule a class or for more information please email us at tomatango@gmail.com or give us a call: Misia: (+36) 30 929 69 88 , Peter: (+36) 70 601 28 23

LEARNING ARGENTINE TANGO

Argentine Tango is a social dance which strongly bonds people into tango communities. Therefore, our beginners' classes focus on enabling the students to join the community and go out for milongas - 'tango dance parties', enjoying dancing in close embrace with different partners to all kinds of tango music. However, learning Argentine Tango is a long term process; it involves learning not only steps and technique but also developing bodily awarness, musicality and appropriate mental attitude, similiar to the one you need for practicing yoga or pilates.

What differentiaties Argentine tango from the ballroom tango is the improvisation, the larger variety of steps and moves and the embrace. In traditonal Argentine tango the embrace is intimate and rellaxed, more like a hug. The embrace and the wordless communication with your partner makes Argentine tango a unique dance. Emotional and powerful music, chest-to-chest embrace and limitless possibilites to interpret the music are the complete opposite of the philosophy of competition that characterizes ballroom dancing.

We divided the beginners' course into two parts: B1 - total beginner/crash course and B2 - beginner, each 3 months long (12 classes each). We strongly recommend you to take part in both parts before you decide whether to continue dancing Argentine Tango. The first months are usually difficult (especially if you don't have previous dance experience) and it takes some time to feel the tango joy that makes so many people all over the world addicted to this dance, making tango their daily routine.. However, once you'll get into it, you'll have fun for many years plus we believe that if you can walk, you can dance :) We are sure that the joy and satisfaction that comes with time is a true reward for the effort spent on learning Argentine tango :)
